The Canadian Rockies

Fall 2009

September 19th –– September 26th

Seven exciting days in the Canadian Rockies: Banff, Kootenay, Yoho, & Jasper National Parks. Experience some of the most beautifully unique scenery this world offers.

September/October is special in the Canadian Rockies as the valleys, awash with golden color, welcome clear, crisp, bright Autumn days as the annual wildlife migration from the high country brings the rutting of the elk –– a magical experience not to be missed. Read an article I wrote about this area of the world.

Our adventure begins in Banff National Park where we will spend the 27th through the 30th photographing breath-taking scenery and searching out wildlife in and around Vermilion Lakes (image at the left), Ice Creek, Lake Louise Moraine Lake, Lower Consolation Lakes, Paradise Creek, Johnston Canyon, and the wildlife of the  Bow Valley Parkway.

In addition, we will cross the Continental Divide into British Columbia and visit Kootenay National Park with its wonderful river valleys filled with abundant wildlife and Yoho National Park featuring Natural Bridge, Emerald Lake, the Canadian Pacific, and magnificient Takakkaw Falls.

October 1st will find us traveling north along the Icefields Parkway visiting both Mount Crowfoot and Peyto Lake, and into Jasper National Park through the Columbia Icefields past Athabasca Glacier arriving in the town of Jasper.

From October 1st to the 4th, we will explore the entire Jasper area including Maligne Canyon and Patricia Lake. The highlight of Jasper will be a boat trip on Maligne Lake to visit Spirit Island, the second most photographed spot in Canada behind Lake Louise.

All participants will make their own lodging and travel arrangements. Click here for further details.
